Arrested Blogger Sues Governor Amosun For N150 Million

Ogun-Blogger
Emmanuel Ojo, a blogger who was arrested for the alleged defamation of Ogun state first-lady Mrs Olufunso Amosun, is fighting back.
Ojo, who was granted bail on the sum of N1 million, is suing Governor Ibikunle Amosun and his Chief Security Officer, Katib Biliamin.
Ojo wants both respondents to tender apologies in two national newspapers, and is asking for “an order of perpetual injunction restraining the respondents from arresting and or detaining him solely on account of alleged publication against Mrs Amosun.”

The suit, filed by his counsel Ayodeji Eniseyin, also seeks a declaration that his “right to personal liberty, freedom of movement and dignity of his person guaranteed under Section 34, 35 and 41(1) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, were violated by the respondents, their servants and/agents who arrested and detained him in Abeokuta, Ogun State.”
A date is yet to be set for the hearing
