Facebook's $19 Billion acquisition of WhatsApp has raise a lot of eyebrows with questions from users of this amazing app. This is regarded as one of the biggest tech acquisition so far in 2014. Having spent over $20 billion on a mobile app like WhatsApp, we keep on asking, what will Facebook's CEO Mark Zuckerberg stand to gain from this acquisition?
Will Mark decides to monetize WhatsApp too with Ads just like he did to Facebook?
Speaking about the Facebook acquisition announcement earlier this month, Mr. Koum the current CEO of WhatsApp Inc said at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona (Where he announced the introduction of free calls on WhatsApp from April) that WhatsApp is not going to change as expected, stressing that, the mobile app would remain independent.
He cited Instagram as example, saying after the acquisition of the photo-sharing service by Facebook, everything was as it is. There are no plans to change anything that we do with the product today, "he said words like minimalistic, utilitarian and uncluttered, to describe his philosophy.
Facebook also stated during the acquisition process that WhatsApp will continue to operate as before without interruptions from them. So i think the issue of displaying Ads on WhatsApp might not be considerate here. Or what do you think?
